Guest workers from Gujarat return to Tamil Nadu

TRICHY: As many as 238 guest workers from Ahmedabad in Gujarat returned to Trichy in Tamil Nadu in a Shramik special train on Friday.
The train was bound for Tirunelveli and carried these guest workers, who were from 10 districts neighbouring Trichy. The train further proceeded to Tirunelveli with the remaining passengers.
A team of government officials led by Trichy district collector S Sivarasu welcomed the guest workers. The workers were from Trichy, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Karur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Pudukottai, Mayiladuthurai and Namakkal districts.
Forty three of them are residents of Trichy. They are quarantined in Government Engineering College at Sethurapatti.
Six Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) buses were arranged to transport the remaining workers to their native districts. The collector said social distancing was maintained in the buses while sending all the workers to their homes. The passengers will be screened at their respective districts.
