GREATER NOIDA: A 71-year-old man died of
pneumonia and sepsis hours before his
Covid-19 test report came back positive on Wednesday.
The man, a resident of Secunderabad, Bulandshahr, had been admitted to GIMS on Tuesday at 11pm with severe acute respiratory infection and sepsis. “He was put on ventilator support, antibiotics and supportive therapy. He died on Wednesday at 4.30pm. His Covid-19 test results came back positive at 9pm,” said Brigadier RK Gupta (retired), director of GIMS.
The GIMS report identifies “Covid-19 positive with ... pneumonia with severe sepsis” as the cause of death. “We tested him around 11am today (Wednesday). He tested positive,” said Dr Vivek Gupta, in charge of the lab at GIMS.
This is the sixth Covid 19 death in GB Nagar. However, his death will not be added to Noida’s Covid-19 tally since he was a Bulandshahr resident, Noida chief medical officer Deepak Ohri said. Bulandshahr district authorities have been informed.
