Cuckoo School features thinkers, activists in virtual conversations

CHENNAI: Cuckoo Forest School near Tiruvannamalai, which provides alternative education for children, has put together Cuckoo Conversations, a series of curated talks by well-known social activists, environmentalists and writers.
Aimed at touching young people’s hearts and minds during this Covid-19 pandemic with valuable life lessons of responsible and ethical living learned from these thinkers, Cuckoo Conversations, a brainchild of one of their founders Sivaraj, have so far featured personalities like Sivanand Guru, Jeyamohan and Helena Norberg-Hodge, Aruna Roy and Bombay Jayashri.
“The conversations began in April and have covered 40 people. The idea is to give the young generation hope, not just during this time of Covid-19, but also in the larger context of living a sustainable life. More importantly, we engage our speakers to talk about not just their achievements but struggles and learnings that have got them here, which are things that are usually left unexplored,” says Kaushik Kumar, a volunteer.
Sessions are mostly held from 9am to 11am and 5pm to 6pm on Cuckoo’s YouTube channel, The Cuckoo Movement for Children.
