AGRA: Aligarh police on Wednesday filed an FIR against Congress leader Pankaj Punia for allegedly tweeting a derogatory tweet against Hindu faith while launching an attack on the Yogi government over migrant workers.
The FIR was lodged on a complaint filed by Ajay Singh, grandson of BJP MLA Dalveer Singh. Punia was booked under section 295 A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), section 505 of IPC along with section 67 of IT Act 2008 at Kawarsi police station.
In his tweet, Punia criticised UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for handling the migrant workers' crisis. “Punia had made a highly condemnable, insensitive and objectionable remark against the Hindus and the Sangh Parivar,” said Singh, adding that his tweet could spread hatred between two communities in the society.
