Tata Motors has discontinued the BS4 Hexa and stopped accepting bookings for the butch MPV on its online booking portal. Though, if you’ve set your eyes on the Tata MPV, fret not, its BS6 successor is on the way and will be launched in the coming months.
“Yes, we have moved onto BS-VI versions of our passenger vehicles. Due to the current scenario raised by the COVID-19 pandemic, product launch timelines have become uncertain. We will make necessary announcements in due course of time,” said Tata Motors’ spokesperson when asked about the absence of the Hexa from the official website.
The upcoming Hexa will continue to utilise the 2.2-litre Varicor motor with upgrades to meet BS6 emission standards. We expect it to be offered in two states of tune: 150PS/320Nm and 154PS and 400Nm. While the base-spec Hexa BS6 could be offered with a 5-speed MT, the ones above it will continue to soldier on with a 6-speed manual and automatic options.
Tata will offer the BS6-compliant Hexa in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. AWD Hexas will also be dubbed Hexa Safari Edition -- a hark back to Tata’s iconic Safari which was recently discontinued. The Hexa Safari Edition debuted at Auto Expo 2020 and came with minor cosmetic enhancements as well as a black-beige interior colour scheme. Read more about it here.
Expect it to command a premium of Rs 50,000 or more over the BS4 version (Rs 13.25 lakh onwards, ex-showroom). Tata’s Hexa jostles for space with SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV500 while battling it out with traditional MPVs like the Toyota Innova Crysta as well. It will soon face some heat from its own sibling, the Gravitas.
