Cyclone Amphan triggers rain in West Bengal, Odisha: Key points

NEW DELHI: The landfall process of cyclone 'Amphan' commenced at 2.30 pm on Wednesday between Digha in West Bengal and Hatiya island in Bangladesh, the Met department said. The landfall process, triggering copious rain and gusty winds, will continue for about four hours.

Cyclone Amphan is crossing the West Bengal coast near the Sunderbans and will reach Kolkata by evening, IMD director general Mrutunjay Mohapatra said as the storm was making a landfall.
The IMD DG said that the first arm of cyclone Amphan has touched the land and the eye of cyclone is expected to touch land anytime now.
