Share market update: Bank shares up; HDFC Bank rises 1%

NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading with gains in Wednesday's session.
Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.57 per cent) , HDFC Bank (up 1.13 per cent) , RBLBANK (up 0.96 per cent) , Federal Bank (up 0.65 per cent) , ICICI Bank (up 0.6 per cent) , State Bank of India (up 0.43 per cent) , Punjab National Bank (up 0.19 per cent) and Axis Bank (up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.63 per cent up at 17596.65 around 11:38AM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 80.60 points at 8959.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 269.06 points at 30465.23.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, BHEL, SBI, Alok Industries, Adani Power, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and RIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
