Super cyclone Amphan made landfall in West Bengal and Odisha on May 20. Heavy rains and high velocity winds left a trail of destruction. As many as 6.5 lakh people have been evacuated to safety in both the states. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel cleared electricity wires and uprooted trees off the road between Digha in East Midnapore district and Odisha border. Odisha’s Paradip faced cyclone Amphan's fury as wind speed touched 102 kmph in Jagatsinghpur. The gusty wind uprooted scores of trees, electric poles, and tin roofs of several houses.
