Gurgaon: Nine more people were tested
positive for Covid-19 in Gurgaon on Tuesday, taking the
number of
cases in the district to 219. Among these patients are two residents from Ravi Nagar, three from Sector 10A and one each from Sirhaul, Palam Vihar, Daultabad and Shivaji Nagar.
According to the health department, most of them came in touch with contacts of those who had earlier tested positive for the disease. “Majority of these cases are linked to close contacts of Covid-19 patients. We are tracing the contacts,” said a senior health officer, adding that these patients are undergoing treatment at the ESIC hospital in Sector 9.
The health officer also said the patient from Shivaji Nagar has link with the city’s Khandsa mandi. “As the city is recording many cases in unauthorised colonies, we are planning to conduct more tests in these areas and actively tracing their contacts,” he said.
People with influenza-like symptoms are also being monitored in urban slum clusters, according to the health department. The district administration is likely to increase containment zones in the city as cases are going up in several areas. At present, the city has 32 containment zones.
So far, 16,081 people have been put under surveillance in the district, of which 13,620 people have completed their 28-day quarantine period. The health department has sent 10,231 samples for testing, of which 9,717 turned out to be negative, while the results of 294 are still awaited.
