Seven test positive in Gurugram, factory workers to be screened

GURUGRAM: Seven more people tested positive in Gurugram on Monday, taking the district’s case tally to 211. While 97 are active cases, 114 people have been discharged after recovery.
The cases include a primary contact of a Covid patient from Bhawani Enclave, a resident of Sector 18, Gandhi Nagar, Devi Nagar, Sirhaul, Vikas Nagar and Ravi Nagar.
Gurugram has reported 45 cases in the last four days alone. In view of the spike, the health department said it will identify symptomatic employees of the industries that have reopened and test those with Covid symptoms.
“The factories and industrial units have a massive workforce. We will check their employees and test symptomatic people for Covid-19. Moreover, street vendors will also be screened and tested,” said Dr JS Punia, chief medical officer, Gurugram.
The department is going to follow the new guidelines released by the ICMR. Asymptomatic people, especially health workers and those working on the ground in containment areas, will also be screened and tested.
Three more Faridabad cases
Meanwhile, three more people have tested positive in Faridabad, taking its count to 150. One of them, a 65-year-old man from Jawahar Colony, is critical and on ventilator. He has been suffering from diabetes for three years and hypertension since two years and developed fever on May 11. He is in ESIC Medical College and Hospital.
Another patient, a 65-year-old visually-impaired man, is a resident of Sai Nagar Mawai. He had pain in the abdomen on May 11 and later diagnosed as having cholelithiasis and appendicitis. The third patient is a 46-year-old chartered accountant, a resident of Sector 7, who had developed mild fever. His primary contacts, eight of his family members, have been quarantined. His brother has vegetable shop at Dabua sabzi mandi.
