Nitish asks officials to boost online education in Bihar

PATNA: As all schools are closed for nearly two months due to Covid-19 pandemic, CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday asked the officials concerned to give emphasis on expansion of online education system in the changed scenario and take necessary steps to provide quality education to students.
Holding a meeting with ministers and senior officials of different departments for the second consecutive day to review how Bihar could be benefited from the five tranches of economic stimulus package announced by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the CM asked the education department’s additional chief secretary R K Mahajan to show the class-wise e-content to all students through television.
He asked the education officials to maintain a proper coordination with officials of the Doordarshan-Bihar and ensure increase in time slot for online education on the channel. The CM said e-content for students of classes I to V should be developed on the pattern of classes VI to XII.
The CM also asked the education officials to digitize syllabi of all classes and upload them to the department’s website for the benefit of the students.
Earlier, Mahajan informed the CM that around 6 lakh children of different classes are getting online education through ‘Mera Mobile-Mera Vidyalaya’ mobile application.
Reviewing the work of food, supply and consumer protection department, the CM asked the officials to ensure that all eligible family gets a valid ration card. “Also ensure to link all issued ration cards with Aadhaar numbers so that beneficiaries could get the benefit of ‘one nation-one ration card’ scheme,” the CM told the officials.
While discussing the issues related to energy department, Nitish said the Centre would make some reforms in the energy sector. “In Bihar, we have already taken several new initiatives and done reforms in the energy sector. The Centre is now adopting the model of Bihar,” the CM said at the meeting, which was also attended by the energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and department’s principal secretary Pratyay Amrit.
‘Reopen Aadhaar registration centres’: CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday asked the officials concerned to ensure reopening of Aadhaar registration centres at all block headquarters with social distancing norms.
The CM said any person in the age group of 10 to 65 years can enrol for Aadhaar number. “Even migrant workers currently staying at quarantine centres can apply for Aadhaar number if they do not possess it,” the CM said.
