After releasing the guidelines of Lockdown 4.0, the Ministry of Home Affairs has now issued guidelines on measures to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the office and workplace.
According to a circular issued by MHA, four types of measures are to be taken to check the spread of the virus.
Basic measures
- Social distancing is mandatory and should be followed at all costs. A minimum distance of one meter must be maintained.
- Face masks are mandatory.
- Hands should be washed repeatedly using soap and water and an alcohol-based hand sanitizer should be used for at least 20 seconds.
- Individuals should cover their nose with their elbows or use a handkerchief while sneezing.
- All individuals should monitor their health every day and report if they are feeling ill.
Preventive measures for offices
- Individuals with flu-like symptoms should not go to the office and consult local health authorities. If they test positive for Kovid-19, they should immediately notify the concerned authorities in the office.
- The employees living in the Containment Zone should be allowed to work from home if they are home quarantined.
What to do if a case comes
- If the person working in the office is suffering from flu-like symptoms, they should be isolated in the office and provided with a face mask until they are given medical attention by the doctor.
- Employers should report helpline 1075 and the state or central health authorities immediately.
- Patients reporting mild symptoms will be placed under home quarantine.
- Contact tracing and sanitization will be done if the patient is tested positive.
- Contacts of an infected person during contact tracing will be classified as high-risk and low-risk contacts. Those who are considered high-risk contacts should be quarantined for 14 days while those who are at low risk should be kept in the office for 14 days.
Office closure
- If one or two cases are registered in the office, the places the patient has visited in the last 48 hours will be sanitized. The work will be resumed after sanitization. In case of a large outbreak, the entire building will be sanitized and sealed for 48 hours, while employees will work from home until they are approved to work in the building.
