NEW DELHI: Total number of coronavirus cases in India stood at 101,139 on Tuesday and 3,163 people have succumbed to the virus. As many as 39,174 people have recovered. The number of active cases across India are 58,802.

1 AHMEDABAD
- Gujarat Congress MLA Gyasuddin Shaikh on Tuesday alleged that negligence and improper treatment of Covid-19 patients in Ahmedabad civil hospital is leading to high number of deaths, and sought the intervention of the National Human Rights Commission in the matter.
- Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad has started drug trials of remdesivir, lopinavir, hydroxychloroquine and interferon for the treatment of Covid-19. State health department officials said that the stock of the drugs has arrived as part of WHO’s Solidarity Trial and the patients have also been identified for the purpose.
- In non-containment zones, shops and establishments can remain open from 8am to 4pm in Gujarat.
2 LUCKNOW
- If the Congress has buses, it should send them to Lucknow, where a large number of people are waiting to go home, BSP president Mayawati said on Tuesday, amid a war of words over Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's offer of 1,000 buses to ferry migrants.

3 HYDERABAD
- A day after Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao slammed the Centre over the stimulus package and accused it of treating states like 'beggars', Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday hit out at him saying the language used was 'objectionable'.
- Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has hit out at the Narendra Modi-led NDA government over the fiscal stimulus package, accusing it of treating states like "beggars" and imposing "laughable" conditions for increasing borrowing limits under the FRBM Act.
- A special flight carrying 166 evacuees from Oman landed in Hyderabad.
- With lockdown restrictions eased in Telangana, RTC buses have started plying from Jubilee bus station in Secunderabad to various districts from today.
4 BENGALURU
- After rigid lockdown for 56 days to contain coronavirus, starting from March 24, Karnataka on Tuesday started limping back to normalcy with autorickshaw, cabs and city buses plying on the roads adhering to the new norms issued by the government.
- 127 test positive for Covid-19 in Karnataka; tally in the state rises to 1,373.
- KSRTC has begun booking of tickets from May 18. Ticket counters have been opened after implementation of new guidelines for the fourth phase of Covid-19 nationwide lockdown.
5 CHENNAI
- With the near two-month lockdown taking a toll on their meagre revenue, many small temples in Tamil Nadu are seeking a waiver of power bills, as demands are also being made for enhanced compensation for village priests and workers allegedly not paid salaries during this period.

6 DELHI
- Delhi DCP East Jasmeet Singh on Tuesday clarified that no buses will run from the capital's Anand Vihar Bus station for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand amid the coronavirus lockdown.
- Delhi Congress chief Anil Chaudhary writes to CM Arvind Kejriwal stating that Congress wants to deploy 300 buses at borders of capital to facilitate movement of migrant workers to their respective states. He also wrote that expense of these buses will be borne by Delhi Congress.
- Death toll due to Covid-19 mounts to 166 in Delhi.
- The Capital witnessed traffic congestion in Kalindi Kunj area near Delhi-Noida border amid fourth phase of lockdown.
- 500 more Covid-19 cases reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours; total cases rise to 10,554.
- Till now, around 65,000 migrants from Delhi have been sent to their home states by trains. We are seeking permission from different states to send back their citizens stranded in Delhi, says deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
7 KOLKATA
- SUCI members protest against Centre, West Bengal govt; demand proper arrangements for migrant workers.
- The state government has designated KPC Medical College for Covid-19 treatment. This will be the sixth such Covid-19 hospital in Kolkata and the third in the private sector. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced the government’s decision on Monday.
- Salons opened with hairdressers in personal protective equipment (PPE), nonessential shops started operations, keeping customers at a safe distance using queue managers, and professionals were on their way to office after being cooped up at home over the last seven weeks.
8 CHANDIGARH
- Punjab government has decided to extend the deadline to pay the outstanding house tax or property tax without any penalty till 30th June.
- Shops open in Chandigarh Sector-17 market amid lockdown. The administration has allowed the market to remain open from 11am to 6pm, as per its lockdown 4 guidelines.
- Sixteen new cases of Covid-19 surfaced in Punjab and 181 people were discharged from government facilities in nine districts. Two more deaths were reported, one each in Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala, taking the overall toll in Punjab to 37.
9 MUMBAI
- The number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra's Thane district rose to 3,928 after 244 more people tested positive for the disease on Monday, the district administration said.
- The civic body in Bhiwandi-Nizampur town in Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday warned powerloom units in the area not to resume operations till further orders were issued during the fourth phase of the Covid-19 lockdown.
- Migrants workers from Bihar lined up at Kharghar while waiting for police to take them to railway station.
- Migrants lined up for MSRTC buses, to Madhya Pradesh border, outside Cadbury Junction in Thane.
