Coronavirus Pune: Couple from Railway Protection Force creates two-in-one mask and face shield

Pune: The importance of face shields, masks and sanitiser to protect against infection of COVID-19 disease has increased phenomenally. Pune Railway Division has earned a distinction of creating large number of masks at home by the staff and family.  Least to mention, that these masks, sanitisers are used by many people. 

But innovation is comes from presenting an idea in a different way. And Railway Protection Force (RPF) staffer Shakeela Sheikh has stood out for one such innovation. She along with her husband Sajid Sheikh also an RPF assistant inspector, Pune has combined the mask and face shield to make it more convenient.

She said, “There is no need to wear masks and face shields, goggles separately. The duo has combined the fabric mask and plastic sheet together.”

“The husband and wife realised this image through their efforts and combined the fabric masks and plastic sheets into a new product. Initially, they created more than 150 such special masks. This idea was appreciated by senior officers of both RPF and Division. Similarly, some railway staffers also used this new product. Now the demand for such masks has increased it being very convenient and easy to use,” said Pune Railway Division Public Relation Officer (PRO) Manoj Jhawar. 

“The couple is completely engaged in making this type of mask, their effort is to make it faster. Having a mask and face shield together, there is no need to apply face shield goggles separately after applying the mask on the mouth and protects the eyes as well. It is very comfortable and convenient to use,” said Jhawar.

“Some such face masks have been made and distributed to the railway employees for their use. This mask can be washed and used again. This unique initiative to prepare this composite product of face shield and mask will definitely benefit railway employees to avoid infection while doing duty,” added Jhawar.
