MUMBAI: The number of those arrested in the Palghar lynching case has crossed over 160 with around 14 tribals held. They were produced in the Dahanu court on Tuesday.
The absconding accused in the April 16 lynching case in which three persons, including two seers were killed by a mob of tribals, is over 500.
The police had initially arrested 110 accused, including nine minors. After the state Crime Investigation Department (CID) took over the case, fresh arrests were made.
Cops have claimed to having fished out the absconding tribals from the nearby jungles where they were hiding.
On Tuesday, around 14 tribals were produced in the Dahanu court. They have been given police custody for eight to ten days. The accused were detained since the past few days and arrested on Sunday.
A batch of accused held earlier were also produced in the court. They have been send to jail custody.
Police said that arrests are being made after tribals are being tracked down. The tribals are from the Gadchinchale village in Kasa where the lynching took place.
Villagers have alleged that a number of innocent men have been picked up.
