Man arrested for Cunupia double murder

One man is in police custody in connection with the murders of a retired policeman and his wife.
The arrest was made on Monday evening in the Claxton Bay area, according to police reports.
On Monday morning police went to the home of retired corporal Kenneth Makhan, 62, and his wife Lillawati, 65, at Upper Welcome Road in Cunupia.
They found the couple dead.
Police said they received a phone call from neighbours about a bad smell coming from the couple’s house.
Makhan's body was found stuffed in a barrel and his wife in a suitcase.
Police also said the couple’s vehicle, a silver Tucson, was discovered in the Claxton Bay area.
Investigations are continuing.
