Disney's Kevin Mayer Names CEO of TikTok

Mayer has also been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of ByteDance, TikTok's parent company.

Disney's Head of Streaming, Kevin Mayer has been named Chief Executive Officer of social media platform TikTok and also as Chief Operating Officer of ByteDance, TikTok's parent company.

Mayer served as Chairman, Direct-to-Consumer and International, Disney and was believed to be one of the candidates tipped to replace Bob Iger as Disney CEO, the position, however, went to Bob Chapek who served as Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products

Mayer joined The Walt Disney Company in 2005 and had been key in the successful launch of the company's streaming service, Disney+. He drove Disney's acquisition of BAMTech, the company that makes the streaming technology that powers Disney's online video service. Over the past 10 years, Mayer has been instrumental in Disney’s acquisitions of Lucasfilm (and the Star Wars franchise), Pixar, Marvel and 21st Century Fox.

According to reports, Disney veteran and President of Disneyland Resort, Rebecca Campbell will replace Mayer as Disney’s Head of Streaming.
