Ghaziabad: Getting tested? Stay put in quarantine till report is out

The sampling booth at DCH will be shifted to IMS College
GHAZIABAD: The district health department has now decided to admit those who turn up for Covid-19 testing at a community sampling booth in Ghaziabad to a quarantine centre till the reports are out.
If the result is positive, the person will be shifted to a Covid hospital for treatment. Otherwise, she or he will be discharged from the quarantine facility. The move comes after the department found that in several cases, the person being tested did not remain in home quarantine after giving their samples but were later, found to be positive, thus increasing the chances of spreading infection among his contacts.
Health officials informed that two persons had gone back to Bihar and Aligarh after giving their samples at the booth located inside District Combined Hospital (DCH) a few weeks ago.
Later, their reports came positive, but it was too late to trace them. Health officials in the respective cities then got them admitted to hospitals there.
This testing centre at DCH was made functional on April 7. Since then it had been testing people who either came voluntarily or referred by the district hospital. About 100 samples are being taken here daily. As DCH, which is a Level 2 Covid hospital, has now started to admit positive patients, movement of the general public inside its premises has been prohibited. The health department has decided to shift the sampling booth operating from DCH to IMS College, which is serving as a quarantine facility for suspected patients.
Those giving samples will remain quarantined in the college till the time their reports come, officials added.
