The board exams will be held only for 29 major subjects – includes six exams for class 10 students for North-East Delhi and 12 subjects for students of class 12 to be held across the country.
CBSE has released detailed guidelines and has asked students to ensure that they wear masks and bring their own sanitizers to the exam. Parents have also been asked to update regarding the health of their ward. Read detailed instructions here
Rajhans Vidyalaya principal Deepshikha Shrivastava said, “Major papers for Class 12 such as English and Math are over. The exams are being conducted for optional subjects, which have limited takers. Hence, there won’t be a problem of crowding or for social distancing. However, in case the situation worsens, a decision can be made once again in July.”
While July could see a peak in coronavirus cases, parents said the step is inappropriate. India Wide Parents Association president Anubha Sahai said, “Are they going to take responsibility of kids during such emergency when cases are rising? We condemn this move, the government and the CBSE will be held accountable if any child is infected. They are risking the lives of lakhs of students from across India,” she said
Students have been disciplined throughout this time. They have safeguarded themselves and their family by staying at home and am sure that their efforts will help us fight against the pandemic, the HRD Minister said in his video message.
Addressing students he said, "you have an ample amount of time. Without any pressure, prepare for the exam while enjoying your self. I will also like to request parents and teachers not to put pressure on students. Both parents and teachers have joined students in their preparation. We have to keep ourselves safe too in this difficult time."
In a video message addressed at students, the HRD Minister said, "I am trying to remain in touch with you constantly. I had shared the dates of exams earlier and now we have released a date-wise and subject-wise schedule for the pending board exams. We have ensured that as we fight the virus, we also do not compromise on an entire academic year. This is a global pandemic which has caught not only the nation but the entire world unaware. I commend the dedication of teachers, parents, and students during this difficult time "
The exam will begin at 10 am. Additional 15 minutes will be given to students to read the question paper. Students can start writing at 10:30 am. Students and parents need to ensure that they reach the exam centers timely.
The exam centres will be strict with these instructions to ensure anti-cheating as well as the health of students and parents, the board claims. Further, more details will be available in the admit card of students.
The CBSE has made wearing masks mandatory for students. As well as candidates will have to carry their own sanitizers. The board has earlier said that the exams will be held amid social distancing, implying a lesser number of students in one room.
