India has recorded the biggest single-day jump of 5,242 new coronavirus cases, with the total cases hitting 96,169, including 3,029 deaths, Union Health Ministry figures this morning shows. The huge jump comes on a day the government released guidelines for the fourth phase of the countrywide lockdown, which will continue till May 31. The government has put the ball in the court of states, allowing them not only to colour-code the zones according to the incidence of coronavirus.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the guidelines accompanying the lockdown extension till May 31 that was confirmed by the centre on Sunday was "largely in line with the proposal sent by the Delhi government".

"Centre's guidelines are largely in line with the proposal sent by Delhi govt based on suggestions of lakhs of Delhiites. We have used the lockdown period to prepare our healthcare system if Corona cases increase, but it is now time to relax the restrictions to some extent," Mr Kejriwal tweeted.

Coronavirus news:Two more COVID-19 deaths, 140 fresh cases in Rajasthan

Two people died due to COVID-19 in Rajasthan, which also reported 140 new cases of the virus today, news agency PTI reported quoting officials.

The number of cases in the state stands at 5,342 and deaths at 133.
The deaths were reported in Kota and Nagaur, additional chief secretary (health), Rohit Kumar Singh, said.
