NOIDA: The Gautam Buddha Nagar administration would maintain the status quo during the fourth phase of lockdown and wait for the decision of the UP government. Clarity on what would open and what would not could only be expected by Tuesday evening, once senior government officials based out of Lucknow come out with instructions.
Till then, the present arrangement would continue. Meanwhile, on Monday Gautam Buddha Nagar police strengthened vigil on the entry and exit points on all the roads that connect the city with Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Hapur and Bulandshahr. While borders with Delhi and Haryana remained sealed.
A lot of people thronged DND flyway in the hope of crossing over the border between Delhi and Noida on Monday morning. “Inter-state movement of vehicles and buses has been allowed during lockdown-4 but people are still being stopped. We were stuck in the traffic jam for 20 minutes,” said Seema Jaiswal, resident of Kalindi Kunj in Delhi, who had to travel to Lucknow to attend operation of her relative and had a travel pass.
Police commissioner Alok Singh said, “The existing arrangement and situation would continue. We would wait for the UP government guidelines.” Borders with neighbouring district of UP were strengthened in order to check movement of pedestrians or migrants.
District magistrate Suhas LY also reiterated that Delhi – Noida border would remain sealed except for permitted purposes. “Situation would be reviewed once guidelines by UP government come out,” added Suhas.
Meanwhile, some districts issued dos and don’ts on Monday after examining the guidelines.
