Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram says there is “no evidence” that there may be a large number of asymptomatic covid19 patients (showing no symptoms but carrying the virus) in TT.

At the Health Ministry’s virtual press conference on Monday morning, Dr Parasram said the level of transmission is currently extremely low.

“If you have asymptomatic carriers, there would be – for instance, if you have one (asymptomatic) person in a household, chances are that their primary contacts, which are their household members, at least one will present symptoms.

“There has been no presentation of severe cases, mild cases, any of the sort, that has picked up a positive case." Since the last positive case, "That is going close to two incubation periods in length. So I think we are very comfortable.”

He said recent decisions to relax certain restriction measures would not have beenmade if the risk of transmission was greater.
