NOIDA: The residents welfare association (RWA) of Sector 19 have demanded that sealing in containment zones should be restricted to only a few nearby houses (maximum 50 meters) where Corona positive cases are found as against the current 400 meters with a maximum period not exceeding 15 days. They also demand that morning walks and RWA monitored services like RO, AC etc. be allowed.
“As we enter the fourth stage of lockdown, I request the district administration to look into some urgent suggestions from the residents. Besides relaxing the sealing norms, residents should be allowed to go for morning walks in sector parks, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing protocols. Services like electrician, AC/cooler, plumber, RO system, TV, etc should be allowed. RWAs can supervise their entry,” said RC Gupta, the RWA general secretary of Sector 19.
Gupta further stated that more focus should be on JJ colonies of sectors 5, 8, 9, 10, 12 etc. where more cases have been reported of late. “Residents from these sectors are making a mockery of lockdown rules as they roam freely without observing necessary social distancing and precautions,” said Gupta who adds that the ration shops from Sector 19 should be immediately shifted to areas where the poor reside so that they do not have to travel to other areas for ration procurement.
He also urged for restarting of construction activities in urban areas so as to help create jobs and curb migrant movement and removal of unnecessary restrictions on NCR borders. “The concept of NCR should not be defeated with such restrictions,” said Gupta.
Meanwhile, Sector 50 RWA distributed dry ration kits to about 300 poor at the sector's community centre. This is the third time since the lockdown has been put in place that the sector has distributed the food items.
The kits include 5kg flour, 2kg rice, 1kg lentils, 1kg sugar, 1kg mustard oil, 1kg salt and a packet of soap. “Fresh food was also distributed while maintaining social distancing,” said Vimal Sharma, the RWA president of Sector 50.
