45-year-old diabetic dies of Covid, Faridabad toll now six

Gurgaon: A 45-year-old man, who tested positive for Covid-19 on May 12, died on Sunday morning at ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Faridabad. He is the sixth person to die of Covid-19 in the district after a 17-year-old girl, a cancer patient, passed away on Thursday evening.
According to the health department, he tested positive at Sarvodaya hospital on May 12, after which he was shifted to ESIC hospital. “He was also suffering from diabetes and his condition started deteriorating from last Thursday and he was put on ventilator. Despite all efforts made by the doctors, he breathed his last on Sunday morning,” a doctor at the hospital said.
The total number of positive cases in the city has risen to 147 after three more people tested positive on Sunday. A total of 55 people have recovered so far. The new cases include a 32-year-old employee of a SBI branch in Sector 14 of the district, who came in contact with a customer from Gurgaon who had tested positive on Friday. The second patient is a 38-year-old man, who works in a factory, and came in contact with the 45-year-old man who passed away on Sunday.
The third patient is a 36-year-old health worker who works at a private hospital.
“We are tracing primary and secondary contacts of the patients who tested positive. The 38-year-old man who tested positive for Covid and works in a factory has three children and a wife. We have already collected their samples,” said Bhagat.
He also said that the man who passed away used to work in a factory and was suffering for uncontrolled diabetics. “His situation was critical because of underlying health condition. The girl who passed away on Thursday was suffering from Leukaemia,” Bhagat said.
