PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government has decided to reopen wholesale Indian made foreign liquor shops on May 19 (Tuesday), said chief minister V Narayanasamy on Monday. A decision to this effect was made at the meeting of the territorial cabinet headed by Narayanasamy.
Announcing a slew of relaxation measures during the fourth phase of lockdown beginning on May 18, the chief minister said wholesale IMFL liquor shops would remain open from 7am to 7pm.
He directed the IMFL shop workers and the customers to maintain social distancing and wear masks to prevent the incidence and spread of Covid-19.
Narayanasamy said the government had also decided to extend the closing time of other shops from 5pm to 7pm. Hitherto, shops in the territory were permitted to remain open from 9am to 5pm.
