Surprisingly, instead of hiking prices, the Kicks gets a price correction. The naturally aspirated petrol variants of the Kicks are now Rs 5,000 to Rs 95,000 more affordable than before. On the other hand, the turbo-petrol Kicks which replaces the diesel version costs Rs 66,000 less in the equivalent XV variant. However, the top-spec XV Premium (O) variant carries a premium of Rs 22,000 for the new turbo-petrol motor.
The new turbo-petrol engine makes the Kicks the most powerful SUV in its segment that comprises best-sellers like the Kia Seltos, MG Hector and 2020 Hyundai Creta. Could it be the new default choice for the enthusiast? We’d love to get behind the wheel of the new Kicks post lockdown to get you that answer. Save for the engine, the Kicks remains practically unchanged. You can take a detailed look here.
Will the Kicks place the slumbering giant back on the map? It does hold promise. But Nissan is likely to place larger bets on its upcoming sub-4 metre SUV that is set to debut later this year. Rumoured to be called the Magnite, this small SUV will take on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon. We bet that tickles your fancy!
