Lockdown in Tamil Nadu: Tasmac liquor shops working hours extended

The shops were reopened on Saturday with a ceiling on selling liquor to 70 individuals per hour at each shop.
CHENNAI: Working hours of the state-run Tasmac liquor shops in Tamil Nadu have been extended by two hours. Now, liquor outlets will down their shutters at 7pm, instead of 5pm, according to Tasmac sources. The shops will open at 10am.
However, it was not clear whether the cap on the number of customers -- 500 per day – at each shop will be revised in tune with the extension of the working hours.
The shops were reopened on Saturday with a ceiling on selling liquor to 70 individuals per hour at each shop.
Liquor shops in Chennai and Tiruvallur remain closed. The shops on the fringes of Chengalpet and Kancheepuram districts that fall under the jurisdiction of Greater Chennai Police are also not open. Also, shops in malls, shopping complexes and Covid-19 containment zones remain closed.
