Marriages allowed with strict conditions

Panaji: With the government allowing marriage functions during the lockdown, the north district collector in the past one month has given permission to organise 20-30 marriages in the district.

The district administration has allowed marriage ceremonies on the conditions that it takes place only at home with not more than 30 people attending the function and all of them adhering to social distancing norms and should wear face mask.

Considering the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, a grand celebration was out of the question, but the district authority allowed marriages to happen only at homes.

In conformation to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines issued in May, marriage functions and funerals-related gathering where not more than 20-30 people will be allowed, the district collector started issuing permit for marriages.

People, who are interested in organising marriages, must seek permission and submit an application at the district collectorate.

It is mandatory for all the persons involved in marriage to wear masks and maintain social distance during the ceremony. Sanitisation of vehicles and people must be ensured along with cleaning of hands with soaps and hand sanitisers.
