Howrah bridge lights up for corona warriors

West Bengal's iconic Howrah Bridge was adorned with LED lights on Saturday to felicitate healthcare workers and coronavirus warriors worldwide.

A spectacular sound and light show was arranged by the Kolkata Port Trust, which used advanced algorithms and LEDs to create an extravagant event.

The International Day of Light is celebrated on May 16 each year, the anniversary of the first successful operation of the laser, 60 years ago, by American physicist and engineer, Theodore Maiman.

The fight against COVID-19 has been twofold, one has been the medical one which involves research and analysis, while the other involves keeping the morale of the frontline staff high. Recently, the Indian armed forces also felicitated doctors and nurses by playing the military band, and showering petals from choppers.
