Providing details of the same, Secretary to the CM, Ashwani Kumar said, “The state government has operated 447 labour trains to ensure the safe return of 6 lakh 26 thousand migrant workers as of midnight of Sarturday. About 315 trains have been operated for U.P, 46 for Bihar, 38 for Orissa, 23 for M.P, 12 for Jharkhand, six for Chhattisgarh, four for Uttarakhand and one each for Rajasthan and Manipur.
About 29 trains will be operated on Sunday to send 46,000 workers to U.P, Bihar, Orissa, M.P, Chattisgarh and other states. Out of this, 19 will be for UP, 5 for Bihar, 2 for Jharkhand, 1 each for Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Orissa.
A total of 6.72 lakh migrant workers have been sent through Shramik trains from Gujarat. All necessary safety protocols are being observed in the Shramik trains in addition to the provision of food and potable water for the labourers.
