LUDHIANA: Five days after a woman was found murdered, the police on Saturday arrested her husband for the crime.
According to police, the accused, identified as Mohammad Rivani, had been hatching a plan to kill his wife Shakeela Bibi for the past one month as he wanted to keep his extra-marital affair alive.
According to cops, the accused had first given poison to his wife, then taken her to a field where he attacked her with a base bat and then strangulated her to death.
Rivani and Shakeela lived in a rented accommodation at Alamgir village. The body of woman was found from Dhandra village on May 11.
Additional deputy commissioner of police-II Jaskaranjit Singh Teja said during investigation, the police found out that the couple had a strained relation because of Rivani’s extra-marital affair with a married woman in Ahemadgarh area. At one point of time, the other woman had also started living with the couple. But later, the woman’s family had taken her along. But Shakeela wasn’t convinced and always objected to Rivani’s affair.
The ADCP said the police had conducted multiple raids to arrest the accused. On Friday the police finally got hold of him from Alamgir cut following a tip-off.
“The accused told police that his wife was a hurdle in his extramarital affair, so he hatched a conspiracy to kill her,” he added. Rivani had married for second time in 2018 after his first wife’s death.
