TRICHY: DMK principal secretary K N Nehru on Sunday distributed financial assistance and essential commodities to 160 temple priests and 210 temple workers at Srirangam in Trichy district of Tamil Nadu.
As all the temples are closed for devotees to contain the spread of Covid-19, the welfare assistance was provided to ensure that the priests do not lose their livelihood, DMK said.
The temple priests who benefited from DMK’s assistance include priests at Arulmigu Ranganathaswamy Temple and other temples.
“People cannot ignore DMK in the name of God or religion. There are believers in our party as well. Irrespective of religion, DMK is helping everyone who struggles to make ends meet during the lockdown,” said Nehru, who is also the Trichy West MLA.
