The Narendra Modi government of the Center is now going to change a 65-year-old law in the interest of farmers. The central government is now about to amend the Essential Commodities Act (Essential Commodities Act), about 65 years old, to deregulate agricultural products like cereals, edible oils, oilseeds, pulses, potatoes, and onions.

This announcement was made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at a press conference organized to give detailed information about the 20 lakh crore relief package announced by PM Modi. The production and sale of food products will be deregulated through modifications by the Central Government, while the stock limit will not apply to any product.

This means that the government will not control agricultural produce such as cereals, edible oil, oilseeds, pulses, potatoes, and onions, and farmers will be able to supply and sell by fixing prices accordingly. However, the central government will review it from time to time and the rules can be tightened if required.
