FALL RIVER - The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Fall River rose by 26 to 965, according to Mayor Paul Coogan.

Coogan reported no new deaths, so the total stands at 20 in Fall River.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed 113 new COVID-19-related deaths across the state Saturday, bringing the state's total to 5,705.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 84,933 after 1,512 new cases were reported by state health officials on May 16, after 12,410 new tests were reported Saturday. That puts the ratio of positive test results reported today at 12%.

State health officials said about 3% of all coronavirus patients are currently hospitalized.

About 61% of the deaths reported statewide occurred at long-term care facilities as of Saturday, according to state health officials.

The average age for deaths in Massachusetts was 82, and the average age for hospitalizations was 68. The average age of those testing positive for coronavirus is 53.

Statewide, the number of patients hospitalized and in the ICU continued a slow downward trend.

According to the DPH, Charlton Memorial Hospital is caring for 32 patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19, with 13 of them in the ICU. Morton Hospital in Taunton has 39 cases, with 4 in the ICU. St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford is treating 46 cases, with 14 of them in the ICU. Saint Anne's Hospital is reporting zero patients with COVID-19.

To date, 48,372 Massachusetts residents have been subject to quarantine since the COVID-19 outbreak began and 27,812 people have completed quarantine, according to the state's weekly report released May 13.
