UP: 19 test positive for coronavirus in Prayagraj range

PRAYAGRAJ: Two new novel coronavirus cases reported on Saturday took Prayagraj district’s tally to 34.
Nodal officer and additional chief medical officer Dr Rishi Sahai said, “Nineteen persons — 16 in Pratapgarh, two in Prayagraj and one in Fatehpur — tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday in Prayagraj range.”
He said that till now, 24 active cases have been reported in Prayagraj district. Of these, nine have recovered and discharged, one patient has died of the infection. Sahai added that the two patients who tested positive on Saturday included the wife of a lab technician who was diagnosed with the disease on Thursday night. “The woman’s swab sample was collected on Friday. The second patient is a clerk posted in the health department. He is posted in Saidabad.”
Meanwhile, the second swab sample of the wife of the deceased civil engineer, who was Prayagraj district’s lone Covid-19 casualty — also tested positive on Saturday.
As the new cases were reported, health department officials in the three districts launched containment and sanitisation drives.
Meanwhile, a 73-year-old patient of Covid-19 died at the intensive care unit of Banaras Hindu University Hospital on Saturday. In Gorakhpur , a 62-year-old Covid positive man died on Saturday morning. He was a resident of from Mohri Purva tola in Campierganj Tehsil of Gorakhpur .
The deceased had returned from Mumbai on Sunday. He had been suffering from multiple diseases.
