From ice coolers to coffee and fruit based drinks -- here are a few coolers and slushes you could try at home to beat the summer heat! Home chef Chelsea Mendes has curated five quick, delicious and refreshing summer drinks anyone could easily make at home. Here's how!
1. Strawberry Cooler
You will need: Fresh cut strawberries, ice cubes, fresh mint, Sprite/7Up and lemon
Directions: Blend the strawberry, lemon juice, ice cubes, fresh mint and 7Up to maks a slush. In a glass, pour soda/7Up over ice cubes and add the prepared slush. Garnish with fresh strawberry and lemon.
2. Mango Iced Tea
You will need: Fresh cut mango, tea leaves, sugar, ice cubes, mint leaves and lemon
Directions: Add water and mango cubes to a vessel, and mash the mango cubes while boiling. Cool it and puree it. Boil tea leaves and sugar in water. In a tall glass, add the tea, mango puree, lemon juice and ice cubes. Garnish with lemon and mint leaves.
3. Rose Falooda
You will need: Cold milk, basil seeds, vermicelli, rose/strawberry jelly, rose syrup and condensed milk
Directions: Whisk condensed milk and rose syrup and keep aside. Soak basil seeds and keep aside. Boil vermicelli. Assemble all of the above in a glass. Give a good stir and enjoy.
4. Lemon Mint Cooler
You will need: Mint leaves, lemon, ice cubes and 7Up/Sprite
Directions: Blend 5-6 mint leaves, lemon juice and ice cubes to make a slush. Add ice cubes to a glass and pour half the slush. Add 7Up/Sprite or water, and tranfer the remaining slush. Garnish with lemon and mint.
5. Mocha Frappuccino
You will need: Coffee, milk, sugar, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and ice cubes
Directions: Brew and cool the coffee. Blend the ice cubes, coffee, milk, sugar and chocolate syrup. Serve with a topping of whipped cream and additional chocolate syrup.
