Representative imageCHARMINAR: Tension prevailed at Modern Maternity Government Hospital Petlaburj on Wednesday night after a baby was declared born dead. The relatives protested against the hospital authorities and alleged that doctors' negligence and delay in attending the patient led to the death.
Hina Fatima, resident of Nawab Sahabkunta, was admitted in the hospital after she had developed labour pain on Wednesday noon. The family alleged that the hospital authorities reportedly failed to attend the patient in time, and came out declaring the baby's death.
The angry family members vandalised the hospital and demanded immediate action against the medical authorities. Later, police registered a case and took family members into custody for further probe.
A police case was registered and hospital authorities sought better security for their doctors. "We need protection as sometimes a patient's relative has no clue that the person is serious and blames innocent medical staff for a death," said a senior doctor.
Angry family members said private hospitals should be allowed to run normally during the lockdown.
