Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s two-word message for Facebook

Elon Musk and Facebook share quite a chequered past and it’ quite clear that the Tesla CEO isn’t a fan of the social media network. And if there was any about his disdain towards Facebook, then one of his recent tweets lays it rest. “Facebook sucks,” is what Musk tweeted in a reply to a comment made by Facebook’s head of AI.
Jerome Pesenti, the head of AI, for Facebook criticised Musk in a tweet. Pesenti tweeted, “ I believe a lot of people in the AI community would be ok saying it publicly.@elonmusk has no idea what he is talking about when he talks about AI. There is no such thing as AGI and we are nowhere near matching human intelligence.” This obviously didn’t go down too well with the Tesla CEO and he made his feelings about Facebook clear in just two words.
This is not the first time that Musk has been ‘accused’ by someone at Facebook of not understanding what AI is. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also in the past termed Musk’s views on AI as “pretty irresponsible”.Musk and Zuckerberg aren’t really the best of friends. In 2017, Musk said that Zuckerberg’s understanding of the future of AI is pretty “limited”. In February this year, the Tesla CEO has called Facebook “lame” and tweeted #DeleteFacebook. In reply to Oscar winner actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s rather scathing tweet on Facebook and Zuckerberg, Musk tweeted, “#DeleteFacebook It’s lame.”
As for Musk, he deleted his Facebook account in 2018. In a tweet Musk had said, “It’s not a political statement and I didn’t do this because someone dared me to do it. Just don’t like Facebook. Gives me the willies. Sorry.” Musk has also deleted Facebook pages of Tesla and SpaceX — his two high-profile companies — as well.
