We’ve already shown you the teaser pictures of the Datsun Go and Go+ and now both these products are available for purchase. Before we get started on the products, the other big news that has come in from Datsun is their industry-best EMI holiday package that they are offering which essentially allows you to buy the car now and start paying your EMI’s in 2021. That’s right, it is a 7-month EMI holiday that has been introduced to aid those who want to buy a car but have had to take a bit of a setback thanks to the lockdown and coronavirus pandemic that has burdened the Indian economy.

What Nissan India has to say about the new Datsun Go and Go+

Commenting on the launch, Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “With the new Datsun GO and GO+, we have introduced high-quality products that not only have a strong value proposition but are also future-ready. Built with Japanese technology, both cars are BS6-compliant and offer the most affordable CVT options in India. With innovative financial schemes, we want to extend support to our customers in these testing times. We aim to enhance the value propositions of our products in line with Datsun’s mission of enabling progressive mobility.”

Datsun Go and Go+  – What you need to know

Datsun has tweaked the Go and Go+ to give them a more upmarket look and they now come with stylish LED DRLs, diamond-cut 14-inch alloys and dashes of chrome. Having said that, they were always good looking compact entry level products and that has always remained one of their plus points.

As far as equipment is concerned, both cars get vehicle dynamic control, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist and reverse parking assist. Connectivity features include a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integrated for seamless usage with your smartphone.

Under the hood, Datsun has equipped both cars with a 1.2 litre petrol engine that is BS6 compliant and is capable of delivering 77 PS of power and 104 Nm of torque. Both cars are offered with a 5 speed manual transmission and for those who want the convenience of an automatic, they can opt for the CVT variants. What is of interest is the fact that Datsun has equipped both cars with a ‘sports mode’. How that changes the drive dynamics is something that we hope to experience at some point when the markets open up and travel resumes.

With the Datsun Go starting at INR 3,99,000 for the manual variant and INR 6,25,000 for the CVT and the Go+ priced at INR 4,19,990 for the manual and INR 6,69,990 for the CVT, they both remain extremely good deals. To sweeten the deal, Datsun is offering innovative finance schemes like the 7-monht EMI holiday we’ve spoken about earlier as well as other schemes that include a 100 per cent finance option.
