Udhagamandalam: The district administration has formed 198 special groups to help them financially during the Covid-19 crisis.
Nilgiris collector J Innocent Divya said, “The ongoing lockdown has caused huge financial losses to many people like auto drivers, taxi operators and small vendors. We have categorized them into different groups based on their occupation to help them financially through the Tamil Nadu Urban Livelihood Mission.”
The scheme has been modified to benefit the newly formed groups and to ensure them quick financial assistance.
“A minimum of five people from the same trade could form a group. They have to then pool in some money. They will get a holiday period of three months for repayment,” the collector said. TNN
