JIND: On Thursday, dozens of migrants from Madhya Pradesh who were engaged in non-agricultural work in Tohana town in Fatehabad district, crossed Jind district and were not stopped by the authorities.

Meanwhile, 28 labourers involved in construction work in Badhana village of Jind district, started their journey for Chhatarpur town of Madhya Pradesh, but was stopped at about 20km by a resident of Anupgarh village while they were crossing the village on Rohtak-Delhi road. He stopped them on seeing children and pregnant woman making the arduous journey.
The villager informed several district authorities but none responded for six hours while the labourers were kept waiting in a field. After that, the villager brought the matter to the attention of CM squad’s deputy superintendent of police Ravinder Sharma and deputy commissioner (DC) Aditya Dahiya. Alewa block development and project officer reached the spot at around 3pm and brought the labourers back to the village.
Talking to TOI, Uchana sub-divisional magistrate Rajesh Khoth said “The labourers were engaged in building the regional horticulture centre in Badhana village. I have asked the village panchayat to provide food until they get clearance to go to their respective villages..”
DC Dahiya said, “District administration has transported around 3,000 migrants labourers from this place. Walking on roads is a serious issue and will put an end to such incidents,” he added.
