The other items seized were bottles of hand sanitisers and raw material for making more masks, the official said, adding that they were being smuggled out in different shipments suggesting that it could be a coordinated effort.
"These goods, 5.08 lakh masks, 57 litres sanitiser in 950 bottles and 952 PPE kits, are prohibited for export as per the latest Directorate General of Foreign Trade guidelines," another official said.
In addition, nearly 2,500kg raw material for making masks has been seized. "High quality fabric was also discovered in a shipment. All of these items appeared to be headed to 3-4 countries requiring Covid-19 equipment," said the official.
