FMCG shares gain

FMCG stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index rising 99.84 points or 1% at 10116.42 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index, Vadilal Industries Ltd (up 4.86%), Sanwaria Consumer Ltd (up 4.72%),Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (up 4.23%),ADF Foods Ltd (up 4.02%),Dabur India Ltd (up 2.29%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Parag Milk Foods Ltd (up 2.27%), Marico Ltd (up 2.02%), Nestle India Ltd (up 1.76%), G M Breweries Ltd (up 1.43%), and Avanti Feeds Ltd (up 1.33%).

On the other hand, Agro Tech Foods Ltd (down 5.24%), Future Consumer Ltd (down 4.2%), and Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd (down 3.5%) moved lower.

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 422.34 or 1.32% at 31586.27.

The Nifty 50 index was down 122 points or 1.3% at 9261.55.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 7.1 points or 0.07% at 10781.53.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 10.02 points or 0.26% at 3827.64.

On BSE,682 shares were trading in green, 743 were trading in red and 67 were unchanged.
