Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane on Wednesday described the new terrorist organization, The Resistance Force (TRF), which was active in Kashmir as Pakistan's birthplace. He said many terrorist organizations have come and gone. But everyone's roots have been at the same place i.e. across the border.
The army chief said I would like to call it (to the TRF) 'Terror Revival Front'. It is another terrorist organization with a different name. But the control of this terrorist organization is also in the hands of the people sitting across the border. These will also be dealt with appropriately. He said this in response to a question that asked whether organizations such as Pakistan's Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed had formed the TRF.
Regarding the sudden increase in terrorist incidents in Kashmir, the army chief said that some terrorist incidents have increased as the weather conditions improve, but the security forces are fully prepared to deal with any event in the future. He said, the winter months are generally calm and with the improvement in the weather and melting of snow, there is an increase in incidence for some time.
This is a pattern that has been going on for years and nothing has happened this year. But we have a strategy to deal with it. We have killed big terrorists. This will continue to happen. The overall situation of terrorism has improved.
