5 more test positive for Covid in Gurgaon, total cases now 165

Gurgaon: Five more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the city on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases in the district to 165.
Among the patients is a Sheetla Colony resident, who is a helper in a sheet-making factory, two people from Udyog Vihar, a Basai resident who works in medical equipment factory and a person from Sector 28, a health official said.
“All the new cases are contacts of other Covid patients. Their contacts are now being traced. We are also screening households in urban slums. Our teams will collect random samples in market areas to check the spread of the virus. We are scrutinising vegetable hawkers and tracing their contacts, and also screening people who travelled to Delhi. All the health workers in government hospitals who have been working with Covid-19 patients are being screened,” a senior health official said, adding that the number of cases could rise in the coming days.
The department has been conducting door-to-door surveillance in the city’s containment zones. Of the city’s 165 cases, 99 are active while 67 patients have been discharged after recovery. So far, 8,814 samples have been sent for testing, out of which the results of over 484 samples are awaited.
