Nelamangala Town police appreciated Lokesh MB aka Snake Loki’s gesture for returning the cheque leaf; it could have been encashed as the farmer, Mari Devaiah of Sondekoppa, had signed the self-cheque.
Lokesh, 48, said he was returning to Nelamangala from Tavarekere after rescuing a snake from a residential complex. “I was on my bike and noticed a paper falling out of the pocket of a pillion rider of another bike coming from the opposite direction. That biker sped away before I could alert him. I picked up the paper and realised it was a cheque leaf,” he said.
“I noticed a phone number behind the cheque leaf and called it. Devaiah received my call and confirmed the cheque was indeed his,” Lokesh said. Police said Devaiah was on going to his bank to withdraw money when he lost the cheque around 2.30pm.
