The effect of coronavirus in the world is going to be long-lasting. Dr. Michael Ryan, Head of Emergency Situations of the World Health Organization has also said that 'this virus may never go away'. In view of all these circumstances, after Lockdown 4.0, Modi Government is going to mold its 75 Ministries and Departments in the tradition of 'Work from Home'.

Initially, the deputy secretary and above will be involved in the e-office scheme. Later HODs can also make their section officers a part of it. Classified files will not be sent from e-office. The National Informatics Center (NIC) has been made the nodal agency for e-office working. The DoPT has sought suggestions in this regard from all ministries and departments by 21 May. If any ministry or department does not make any suggestion until this date, it will be considered for e-office.

The draft sent to the DoPT states that the concept of 'work from home' has now become important for maintaining social distancing. Lockdown 1.0 to date, various ministries and departments have handled 80 percent of their work through 'Work from Home'. Now it will be continued even further. NIC has played an important role in providing robust platforms like e-office and video conferencing. The system will continue even after Lockdown 4.0, for which the draft is now being prepared, security will be taken care of most.

NIC will work with the Ministry of Home Affairs to formulate a Security Guideline. The laptop will be provided on a rotation basis. The responsibility of the second IT logistics has also been given to NIC. The provision of reimbursement will be made for the data card. The Central Registry Unit (CRU) and the physical postal system will continue to function during the e-office. In order to not delay the work of e-office, we will send alerts on SMS and email.

Important files will remain in the Knowledge Management System of e-Office. The exchange of important files between different ministries will continue uninterrupted as before. The way in which the e-office will send the files containing VIP and Parliament work is also being considered. SMS alert will be sent for this. Which file is there, what is its progress report, all this information will remain in the alert. NIC will provide the best video conferencing service.

All the ministries will be connected to the central help desk of NIC. Ministries and departments can contact this help desk in case of any technical problem in the e-office. Laptops provided for e-office will not be used for any other purpose. All officers with work from home will be available on phone. The number of days a worker will have to work from home in a year is being decided. Initially, this time can be for two weeks.
