Brabham has completed the assembly of the first BT62 Competition model, which was shipped to the United Kingdom where it will compete in the 2020 Britcar Endurance Championship.

Described by its maker as “the world’s most track-focused hypercar”, the racer will stun spectators in the coming season in the hands of Horsepower Racing owner Paul Bailey and driver Ross Wylie.

Hand-built by a team of experts with previous ties to some of the biggest names in the automotive industry, including Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, Koenigsegg, Tesla and General Motors, the BT62 is limited to 70 units.

The stripped-out Competition spec has a starting price of £750,000 (equal to $919,478) in the United Kingdom and features a FIA-compliant chassis. It also boasts on-board data and telemetry system, telematics carbon fiber steering wheel, carbon fiber body, lightweight wheels shod in Goodyear slicks, and high-tech brakes.

All BT62s are powered by a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter V8 unleashing 700 horsepower and 491 pound-feet (666 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission. The racer, which already made a name for itself by setting lap records at the Mount Panorama Circuit and Australia’s The Bend – West Circuit, weighs just 2,143 lbs (972 kg).

After delivering the first BT62 Competition, Brabham will spend the following months making both track-only and street-legal versions of the hypercar, which will be shipped across Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
