NEW DELHI: Amid prevalent chaos and uncertainty over access to the essential services and commodities during the lockdown, we bring you the latest updates from your city.
Update at 11.05am: CM Kerjiwal had sought suggestions from the public, we got around 5 lakh suggestions. A policy is being formulated & you will get to know about it in 2-3 days, whatever opens will be opened keeping in mind social distancing: Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain on lockdown.
Update at 10.15am: All tickets booked for regular passenger trains for travel on or before June 30 cancelled; Shramik special trains to continue, says Railways.
Update at 9.10am: Spike of 3,722 Covid19 cases & 134 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total positive cases in the country is now at 78,003, including 49,219 active cases, 26,235 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 2,549 deaths, says Union ministry of health & family welfare (ANI)
Update at 9am: Delhi: Wholesale fruit & vegetable market in Gazipur has been closed for 2 days for sanitisation, after secretary & deputy secretary of the market tested positive for Covid-19
Update at 8.45am: A train carrying passengers from Ahmedabad reached New Delhi railway station on Thursday morning.

No buses yet for spl train passengers
On Thursday, buses of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will pick up migrant workers from different parts of Delhi and ferry them to New Delhi Railway Station. Recently, when some special flights arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport from different countries, sources said that DTC buses were deployed to transport the stranded passengers to different parts of the city.
Now, Shramik Specials to run from Old Delhi station
Northern Railway has shifted its operations of Shramik Special trains to Delhi Junction Railway Station from New Delhi and will be using the Ajmeri Gate side for exit of special trains.
This semester, only internal tests at DU
Delhi University on Wednesday issued guidelines to its colleges and departments to conduct internal assessments for this semester. The teachers have been asked to email assignments and conduct internal assessments through IT tools in an open book format. DU has also issued guidelines to conduct practicals and viva-voce through Skype.
Traders recommend odd-even opening of shops in markets
Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) have supported the idea of opening of alternate shops in designated markets and planned industrial areas. However, they have opposed the concept in residential areas as it would be difficult to screen visitors.
Turn Shalimar Bagh into red zone: RWAs
While Delhiites in many parts of the city are getting ready for more lockdown relaxations, a group of 12 residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) in Shalimar Bagh and local councillors have written to the chief minister urging him to declare the entire area a red zone.
