CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has provided a major relief to its natives who are stranded in Delhi owing to the lockdown and are eager to return to their districts or wish to reach New Delhi Railway Station from their districts.
The state government has decided to ply state transport buses from May 18 for the convenience of such people.
Booking can be done through the online portal and passengers with confirmed booking will be allowed to enter the bus stand. The buses will operate from New Delhi Railway Station to the scheduled bus stand of
Haryana Roadways and no passenger will be allowed to board or get off from the bus en route. Buses passing through coronavirus-affected districts will take the bypass or flyover route.
Only 30 passengers will be accommodated in each bus. Thermal screening of passengers will be done before entering the designated bus stands and it will be necessary for every passenger to wear a mask and follow social distancing norms. Passengers without masks will not be allowed to enter the bus.
Confirming this, state transport minister
Moolchand Sharma said that if bus operations on any route would not be possible due to any reason, then it will be cancelled and information regarding the same will be given two hours prior to the time of departure. The fare will be refunded if the bus is cancelled. He informed that details of routes and information related to fares have also been made available on the website.
Buses to ply in 10 districtsThe minister also informed that initially, buses would ply from 10 districts - Ambala, Bhiwani, Hisar, Kaithal, Karnal, Narnaul, Panchkula, Rewari, Rohtak, and Sirsa. For this, necessary directions have been given to all the depot general managers of the state and it will be their responsibility to ensure compliance with directions.
He said that during this time, special care will be taken for following social distancing norms, and a maximum of 30 passengers will be accommodated in each bus. Thermal screening of passengers will be done before entering the designated bus stand and every passenger will be required to wear a mask. Passengers without masks will not be allowed to enter the bus.
